La Buena Estrella is a swing-inspired project of secondhand and vintage fashion. We select, restore and update special and unique garments delicately and with exceptional care. We always speak in the plural because carrying everything out requires teamwork and the collaboration of other professionals, but La Buena Estrella Vintage y Sostenible was created by myself, Estrella. Keep reading in case you want to know a little bit more about how this personal project started. I will speak in the singular from now on.

I have always been attracted by the past, its fashion and common objects from back then made me immediately fall in love. In 2003, after having spent a year living in Budapest and travelled around Europe, I got into the fantastic world of vintage and secondhand. It all started as a hobby, mainly on decoration, but it soon spread to fashion, music and art. A few years later, back in Valencia, I discovered the world of swing and lindy hop. It was an explosion of great experiences and important influences in terms of aesthetics, music and dance.

Besides the attraction of the aesthetic or nostalgia for the vintage world, in the last few years I have changed little by little my way of consuming. I have tried to follow a slower and more sustainable way of life, the way our grandparents did. And I wanted to do my bit and take part of this change that is already global. Contributing with a small project of textile reuse seemed a doable, realistic and wonderful plan, knowing that the textile industry is the second cause of pollution in the world, only preceded by oil.

So I decided to partially cease my professional career in order to combine it with my passion and give life to La Buena Estrella. In January 2019, this project started.

I am very happy about this change of life, a commitment to slow fashion, conscious consumption and circular economy.
